Carry your own ground
One Neck Ahead is a hand-crafted retro-style platformer where you follow Kid Giraffe on a journey toward the heart of the forest, in a wholesome story about friendship and loss. Master precise platforming, experiment with unique mechanics, discover surprising interactions, and befriend a playful cast of characters, as you overcome hand-crafted challenges.
Sometimes, Kid can't cross the gap in front of him, so he builds across it. Drop a box mid-jump, land on the thing you were carrying the whole time, and keep going. Then the forest starts handing you tricks you didn't ask for: a dog to ride, a goose that snatches your boxes clean out of the air, magical portals, and even Jeremy from accounting. Every character you meet is a new way to move. Movement is tight and expressive.
Swap the whole palette whenever you feel like it, crank the CRT glow until it almost hums or wipe it clean. It is as hard as you want, as gentle as you need thanks to its accessibility settings.

One Neck Ahead is made, including code, pixels and music, by KEPSmakesGAMES: a Dutch software engineer turned solo game developer, five years deep and a fixture of the game-jam scene with a stack of top-25 finishes. He's a devoted animal lover with one standing promise: there will be a giraffe in every game he makes.
He means it literally. Every animal in the forest is a real one from his own life, walking around in pixels:
Kid · Goosebert · Jelly · Zoey and more. The cast is straight from real life.
