02 · Description

Short

A precision platformer where you carry your own ground. Place platforms mid-jump and combine them with a wide variety of movement-bending gimmicks. Kid has somewhere to be.

Full

One Neck Ahead is a hand-crafted, retro-styled 2D precision platformer from solo developer KEPSmakesGAMES, published by Twin Cinder. You play as Kid, a small giraffe with an unusually long neck, walking toward the heart of the forest in a story about friendship and loss.

Kid carries boxes. You can drop one at any moment, including in mid-air, and it becomes a platform the instant it lands. Getting across a gap is usually a question of when you let go. From there the game opens up. Boxes run into the forest's other systems and the results stack up, sometimes in ways nobody planned, and working those combinations out is a lot of why you keep going. There is a dog to ride, a goose that snatches boxes clean out of the air, magical portals, and Jeremy from accounting. Every character you meet is a new way to move.

The look is yours to mess with too: swap the colour palette, push the CRT from heavy glow to razor-clean, or randomise it so no two screens match. Accessibility isn't buried at the bottom of a menu here. Infinite jump and a No Death Mode sit on the very first screen, toggle mid-run, and cost you nothing. As hard as you want, as gentle as you need.

03 · History

Being written. The development history goes here once KEPSmakesGAMES and Twin Cinder have settled the timeline. Anyone who wants the origin story before then can email info@twincinder.com and we will answer directly.
